There are a couple of ways that you can take an upfront deposit amount from a customer in person in MotorDesk.
The first way is to ask for a reservation payment. This is usually for when they reserve the vehicle online or prior to making their journey to your showroom, however you can also use this feature to act as a 'deposit' payment in-store.
When you go to the vehicle's 'Sell Vehicle' page, you will have the option to Reserve Vehicle.
You can add or select a customer to the reservation and then choose the payment type and amount.
If you choose NOT to create an invoice, the reservation will be added to the subsequent sales invoice.
Press Sell Vehicle to continue through and generate the sales invoice and take the rest of the payment.
When you raise the sales invoice, the reservation amount (essentially a deposit) will be deducted from it.
The other way is by taking a part-payment when selling a vehicle. When you've issue the invoice to a customer, press Mark As Paid as normal.
Then you have different rows for different payments. You can simply enter the deposit amount into the first row and only this amount will be taken at first. You can then let the customer pay the remainder separately or at a later date.
Press Save afterwards and only press Mark As Paid when you have taken the remainder of the payment.
