Custom Website Categories

MotorDesk allows for you to create custom categories for your vehicles on your website. These categories can then be separated on your website via different pages.

For example, you could categorise your vehicles by colour, or if you'd like a page to display your ULEZ compliant vehicles, you can do so.

Step 1 : Create Custom Website Categories

To begin, you will first need to create your custom website categories.

Navigate to your vehicle settings page, found via Vehicles -> Settings.

You will see a text box for 'Custom Website Categories'.
Simply enter your custom categories here, one category per line.

Make sure to scroll to the bottom of the page and click the blue 'Save Changes' button once finished.

Step 2 : Categorise Vehicles

Now that you've created your custom website categories, you will need to assign your vehicles to these categories.

When editing a vehicle within MotorDesk, navigate to the 'Vehicle' section.

You will see a drop-down selection box for 'Website Category'. Simply select which category you'd like to categorise the vehicle as.

Make sure to scroll to the bottom of the page and click the blue 'Save' button once finished.

Step 3 : Create Website Pages

Now that you've assigned vehicles to your custom categories, you will need to create the pages on your website to display these categories.

Navigate to the website pages section of MotorDesk, found via Website -> Pages.

You will be creating a new page for each category that you'd like to display. i.e. each page will have it's own category.

Once the new page has been created, go to edit it and then add the 'Vehicle Search Results' module.

Step 4 : Assign Categories To Website Pages

Once the module has been added to your page, go to edit the module.

Once you are editing the module, go to the 'Search Box' tab.

Now you will need to look for the 'Show Website Category' option. You should see a list of your custom website categories that you had created earlier.

Finally, select which category you'd like to be displayed on this page of your website.

You have now successfully added a custom vehicle category page to your website. Repeat stage 3 for any additional categories you'd like to add to your website.
