If you have an existing domain name you would like to use with MotorDesk then you will need to update your name servers to use MotorDesk's.
From this page, select the Transfer Existing Domain option.
If you choose Register New Domain or Use AutoServer.co.uk Subdomain, you do not need to worry about the following steps.
We no longer provide generic name servers and instead provide name servers which are unique to your domain name. These are what you need to copy and paste when you've logged into your domain registrar.
You can find your name servers at any time by going to the Business -> Domain Name section.
To update your name servers please go to the website where you purchased your domain and log-in, then modify the domain to update the name servers.

Once updated please notify MotorDesk support so we know to start the website set-up process.
When you update your name servers the domain will remain under your control, but it will change which servers are responsible for providing the website and email for the domain.
When you update your name servers any existing email accounts will no longer work and MotorDesk will take responsibility for your email. Once MotorDesk have completed the domain set-up you can add and manage your email accounts from the Business -> Email Accounts section.
When we set-up your domain we will create a contact@yourdomain.com email account which will be used by MotorDesk's Leads & Chat system, and by MotorDesk to send emails to your customers such as invoice emails. This is a special email account which can not be accessed directly, only via the Leads & Chat system.
In addition to this special account you can then add regular email accounts as you require - you can add one email account for each staff account supported under your membership plan. Additional email accounts can be added on request.
We provide a webmail tool for accessing these email accounts through your web browser, and you can also set them up on your devices using tools like Apple Mail or Microsoft Outlook (click here for email set-up instructions).
Many users already have their email set-up with services like Gmail or Outlook. MotorDesk's Leads & Chat system does not currently support these email accounts, and due to MotorDesk's complex high-availabilty set-up MotorDesk does need to provide the DNS for your domain, therefore the domain's name servers do need to be updated to MotorDesk's.
If this is of concern, the first solution is to use a different domain for MotorDesk such as a '.uk' rather than a '.co.uk'.
Alternatively, under the Growth Plan and above we can update your MotorDesk DNS to support a third-party email service. In this case you will still be able to send emails via MotorDesk but you will not be able to receive emails into MotorDesk's Leads & Chat system, which includes leads from eBay, CarGurus and AA Cars, but does not affect AutoTrader Leads. We can not provide custom DNS management under the Starter Plan.
