Vehicle Images & Videos

To upload images/photos and videos of your vehicles for sale simply go to the Images & Videos section for the relevant vehicle, you can also jump to this section by selecting the 'X Images' and 'X Videos' buttons in the Vehicles -> Browse Vehicles section.

Uploading Vehicle Images & Videos

Once you're in the vehicle Images & Videos section you have a choice as to whether you'd like to upload photos and videos directly from your device or to add a YouTube video.

The drop area under the 'Upload' tab is very simple and you can simply drag and drop a photo or video into the box where prompted, or you can click the same area and choose the files via the file browser on your device.

Multiple files can be dropped/uploaded at once.

On mobile devices you can select to take a photo, however this is typically a single photo process and therefore we recommend taking the photos beforehand using your camera app, and you can then select multiple photos to upload simultaneously.

Re-Ordering Images & Videos

You can add multiple images at once and MotorDesk will try to automatically arrange the photos in the original order you had them in before uploading. This is not always possible but you can rearrange the order by clicking and dragging the photos into any order you like before hitting 'Save' or 'Save & Next'.

Upload YouTube Videos

Video files can be uploaded from your computer in the same way as images, however some sales channels such as AutoTrader do not support self-hosted videos.

It's just as easy to add a video from YouTube, you just need the YouTube video URL and can paste it in the YouTube Video URL field underneath the 'YouTube' tab. This does require a YouTube account to upload the videos, however this has the added benefit of creating a video channel on YouTube where potential customers may find your video content.

Creating Representative Finance Example Images

If you've created any text template images in your MotorDesk Business -> Image Templates section then a 'Template' tab will be provided. When selected the Template tab will display the template image library where you can simply choose which image to add to each vehicle listing. This can be used to add custom imagery, and even automatically generated representative finance examples which will be automatically updated whenever the finance quote changes.

Uploading Other Stock Images

You can also upload any image that you have added in the Business -> Image Library. This is great if you'd like to add additional photos to each listing, such as a photo of your showroom or perhaps photos of awards that you've won, or services that you offer.

Grouping Photos

You'll notice on the top right side of the Images & Videos section a button for 'Groups'. This section enables you to group photos so that your customers can easily jump to external or interior photos, highlights of interesting custom features or skip to your videos. This can be beneficial when you add a large number of photos are it allows the user to for example quickly view the interior.

You can add your own custom group headings by editing the 'Custom Vehicle Images & Videos Groups' setting in the Vehicles -> Settings section.

Once each you've assigned a group to each photo, press 'Save Changes'.

Adding A Text Banner Or Ribbon To Your Image.

You can create a customisable text banner by enabling the 'Ribbon' or 'Banner' options. This will display text of your choice, with your choice of colour, on top of your image. Each image can have a different banner or ribbon.

Adjusting Individual Vehicle Image Branding

If you've already enabled the 'Branding' or 'Watermark' features in your Business -> Image Branding settings you can turn these features on or off for individual photos you upload using the 'Branding' or 'Watermark' toggle.

Background Removal Or Replacement

'Background' allows you to remove the background from your vehicle images for a uniform and consistent look between images. You can replace the background of the image with a plain white background, or you can choose from a collection of pre-selected backgrounds. Your own custom backgrounds can also be added via the Business -> Image Backgrounds section.

A one-time charge will be applied for the background removal for each photo but you can subsequently change a photo's background as often as you like without incurring additional charges - i.e. the charge is only for the initial background removal.
